India’s COVID-19 graph showed a declining trend Thursday as the country recorded less than 300,000 daily infections for the fourth successive day.

The South Asian country registered 276,110 more COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative caseload to 25.8 million, the country’s Health Ministry said Thursday.

With 3,874 more deaths, the death toll now stands at 287,122, according to the ministry. India recorded 4,529 deaths on Wednesday – the highest single-day toll.

The country’s daily recoveries continue to outnumber the daily new cases for the seventh consecutive day. Over 369,077 recoveries in the last 24 hours took the number of India’s cumulative recoveries to 22.36 million.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on Wednesday said India will procure 2,670 million vaccine doses by the end of this year, and will be in a position to inoculate all of its adult population, said an official statement.

He urged states to ensure that the healthcare and frontline workers are fully vaccinated, as they form the vulnerable categories.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold another meeting with officials of 10 districts today to discuss the COVID-19 situation.
