Bayern Munich Sign Dayot Upamecano To Replace David Alaba

Bayern Munich have confirmed the signing of Dayot Upamecano from RB Leipzig.

The Bavarian club have activated the defender’s release clause and will pay 42.5 million euros to sign him.

“We’re happy that we’ve been able to sign Dayot Upamecano,” Bayern board member Hasan Salihamidzic said in a statement on the club’s official website.

“We’re convinced that Dayot will be a very important member of our team in the coming years.”

Upamecano will join Bayern on July 1, 2021, and has signed a five-year deal with the German, European, and world champions.

David Alaba’s replacement

Bayern needed to bring in a new defender, with David Alaba set to leave this coming summer.

MARCA has already reported that Real Madrid have agreed a deal for the 28-year-old Austrian, who will arrive on a four-year deal worth close to 11m euros per year.
