Trump Demands Sweden ‘Give A$AP Rocky His FREEDOM’ After Rapper Charged with Assault

President Donald Trump on Thursday ramped up his lobbying efforts to secure the release of American rapper A$AP Rocky from Swedish custody, saying he was “very disappointed” in Prime Minister Stefan Löfven for failing to intervene as the rapper was charged with assault.
“Very disappointed in Prime Minister Stefan Löfven for being unable to act. Sweden has let our African American Community down in the United States. I watched the tapes of A$AP Rocky, and he was being followed and harassed by troublemakers,” the president wrote on Twitter, imploring Löfven to “treat Americans fairly!”
In a second tweet, Trump was more blunt: “Give A$AP Rocky his FREEDOM. We do so much for Sweden but it doesn’t seem to work the other way around. Sweden should focus on its real crime problem!”
Trump included the hashtag #FreeRocky at the end of both tweets.
The rapper, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, was charged with assault on Thursday over a street fight, in a case that has drawn international attention. Rocky says that two men began following him and his entourage while he was in Stockholm for a music festival on the night of June 30, eventually leading to a fight.
