Sissoko, Son Goals Assist Tottenham To Reach Carabao Cup Final

Six years after their last appearance in the Carabao Cup final, Tottenham are back in with a chance to win silverware as they came through unscathed from their semi-final clash with Brentford on Tuesday.

Then coach, Mauricio Pochettino’s side fell 2-0 against Chelsea in their last final in the competition, but Jose Mourinho will be desperate to go one better this time.

The Carabao Cup is the last trophy that Spurs won, which came almost 13 years ago in 2008 when Juande Ramos guided them to a win over Chelsea.

Mourinho has already won the competition four times, level with Brian Clough and Sir Alex Ferguson as the coaches to have won it more than anyone else, but he could become the first to do so with three different sides.

Goals from Moussa Sissoko and Son Heung-min were enough to book Spurs’ place in April’s final, at the expense of Spaniards David Raya and Sergi Canos who both lined up in Brentford’s XI.

Mourinho’s side will meet either Manchester United or Manchester City in the final, with the second semi-final to be played on Wednesday at Old Trafford.
