Arsenal Come Back To Secure Three Point Against North London Rival, Tottenham

Astunning Erik Lamela rabona goal wasn’t enough for Tottenham to overcome Arsenal in the North London derby as Jose Mourinho’s side lost 2-1 on Sunday evening.

The Argentine came off the bench to open the scoring in the first half, but Martin Odegaard levelled before an Alexandre Lacazette penalty won it for Mikel Arteta’s Gunners.

Son Heung-min was forced off injured midway through the first half, and Lamela was brought on in his place. Less than 15 minutes later, he scored an incredible opener.

A loose ball fell inside the box and Lamela instinctively pulled off a rabona-style strike that was placed to perfection in the bottom corner. It’s not his first goal of that kind with Spurs either, having scored a similar strike from outside the box against Asteras in the Europa League in 2014.

Emile Smith Row had hit the post earlier in the game and Cedric Soares did the same just minutes after Lamela’s strike.

Spurs weren’t to lead at the break though, with Odegaard scoring his second goal of the week, turning home a Kieran Tierney cross.

Davinson Sanchez gifted Arsenal a chance to lead in the second half when he fouled Lacazette. The Frenchman himself stepped up and calmly converted.

Lamela’s afternoon took yet another turn as he was sent off with 15 minutes to play. Having been booked for a wild challenge on Thomas Partey just moments earlier, a stray arm caught Tierney in the face and earned him a second yellow card.

Mourinho’s side didn’t give up though and came within inches of levelling late on. Kane, who had seen a headed goal chalked off for offside, thumped the post with a low freekick in the 90th minute.
