National Convener and Human Rights activist of note, Comrade Nelson Ekujumi, has on Saturday given reasons the residence of the late MKO Abiola deserves to become a National Movement.

The Radio/Television analyst and public commentator spoke at the June 12 anniversary celebration organised in Lagos under the umbrella of the Coalition of Civil Society Organizations for Good Governance, when the delegations visited the residence to honour the late great politician.

The activist, who said nothing can be too big to honour MKO for his contribution to the proper return of democracy to Nigeria, saying, not many people can lay his or her life down for his/her country as Abiola did.

Against this backdrop, Ekujumi suggested that, the residence of the Hero of Democracy should be converted to a National Monument where the generations yet unborn could visit to learn and cherish the importance of selflessness for one’s country, adding that, it could also be a money-spinning venture for the country as a Tourist Centre.

While saluting the courage of the family he left behind, Ekujumi prayed the good Lord to keep on being with them just as he went down the memory lane to also pay tributes to other past and present surviving heroes and heroines asserting that, they all deserve accolades.

Ekujumi was one of the leaders of various pro-democracy and human rights organizations who stormed the residence in a peaceful rally on Saturday 12th of June 2021 in Lagos to the in commemoration of this year’s June 12 Democracy Day.

Other renowned leaders of various civil society organizations at the event were Comrades Razaq Olokoba of the Campaign for Dignity in Governance ((CDG), Raji Rasheed, Declan Ihekhaire, Razaq Oladosu Obasola Buska, Alex Omotehinse, Rosulu, Temitope Adekunle and a host of others too numerous to mention here.
