President and First Lady Make Surprise Visit To Iraq

President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump quietly swept into Iraq Wednesday to pay a holiday visit to US troops, making good on the President’s promise to travel to one of the American war zones he has derided as costly blunders.

Trump and Melania met with military personnel on Wednesday at Al Asad Air Base in Iraq, according to photos from Reuters.

His whereabouts sparked speculation about what Trump was up to because he hadn’t tweeted in more than 17 hours, no press aides were in the media office and lights were turned off on the second floor where White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders has her office.

It is the first time Trump has visited troops in a war zone since becoming president.
