Around 600 workers were yesterday sacked by Aero Contractors of Nigeria Limited in its ongoing rebuilding activity to keep the airline afloat.

The influenced workers are 60 per cent of its 1,030 workers that continued with the carrier last December after it close down operations in October 2016.

Despite the fact that the management portrayed the advancement as “notice of repetition,” the circumstance has constrained the workers back to the labour market.

In a quick response, flight workers’ unions have pledged to oppose the lay-off without first paying severance bundles.

General Secretary of the National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE), Olayinka Abioye, yesterday said the action was in opposition to agreement reached with the union, and would warrant a protest starting from Monday.

The aircraft said “the issuance of warning of repetition” was a business choice that will guarantee Aero’s survival.
