2023: Kassim Afegbua Afraid Of Atiku’s Public Acceptability – ex-Obaseki’s Aide Atu

Former Senior Special Assistant on media in the Obaseki administration Mr. Benjamin Atu said the public outcry of Prince Kassim Afegbua against Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is a display of timidity and the last kick of a dying horse to destabilize the peace and unity in the nation.

He said “Atiku Abubakar came to the task better equipped than those Afegbua is projecting” Nigeria doesn’t need any ad-hoc president that will put the nation at the mercy of political misdirection and economic collapse. Apart from the constitution, no man would have been able to stop President Buhari from seeking a third term on account of Age. A man should not be a wolf to fellow men.

Atu said ‘’Nigeria no longer needs experimental democracy without experienced politicians like Atiku Abubakar. This was why Shakespeare said, “you put sharp weapons in madman’s hands….” Nigerians have put sharp weapons in some madmen’s hands by voting wrongly in the past. Atiku Abubakar could be the savior that Nigerians have been waiting for.

It is wrong for Afegbua to want an entire region not to have a presidential candidate in a multi-ethnic society like ours that is sharply divided along tribal, ethnic, and religious lines. Balancing the competing interest in Nigeria should be done methodologically through lobby and appeals.

Kassim Afegbua’s public outcry is like the last kick of a dying horse. Atiku should be allowed to make his case to Nigerians and tell us what he desires to do differently. Afegbua can’t usurp the supreme power by attempting to hinder Atiku Abubakar from fulfilling his fundamental human rights.

“Nigerians should disregard Kassim Afegbua’s alarmist approach to sensitive national issues. During the Edo 2020 governorship election, he made himself a prophet of doom when he said that Obaseki cannot get the Governorship ticket but Obaseki got it. Same Afegbua said Philip Shaibu cannot be retained as a running mate but till today Shaibu is still Obaseki’s deputy. He campaigned against Obaseki yet Obaseki won the election. Kassim Afegbua is my elder brother from the same community but no serious Nigerian should listen to his caution”

If Afegbua cannot respect Atiku because of his age, he should at least respect him for his status. Nigerians are already aware that Kassim Afegbua doesn’t have regard for those he has previously served. He abused Adams Oshiomhole and we are not disappointed that he is doing this to his ex-boss Atiku Abubakar. Does Kassim Afebua even belong to any political party? The last I could remember was his utterance that led to his suspension from PDP. This was why T.Y. Danjuma said “we took the crocodile and tore it open. There was nothing inside it, just mere stuffing”.

The most disappointing utterance was for Kassim to be making a case for a South-South President. Power is not given in any democratic society. Kassim Afegbua will have to wait forever if he expects the North to cede power to the South voluntarily. When President Goodluck Jonathan was the President, Same Prince Kassim Afegbua showed disdain for his administration. Today he is seeking to correct his previous misleading utterances by issuing more misleading ones.

As we approach the 2023 election, Nigerians must show more restraint in their utterances and conduct and know that the ultimate survival of the country is more paramount than pyrrhic political victories.
