Chief Imam Of Lagos, Alhaji Akinola Dies At 79

The Chief Imam of Lagos State, Alhaji Mohammed Garuba Akinola Ibrahim (Gana V) died on Sunday in Lagos at the age of 79.

Late Akinola according to family source who announced his exit to worldtopnewsng.com assumed office following the vacuum made by the demise of the former chief Imam, Alhaji Liadi Alade Ibrahim (OBE) in 1998.

A family source told worldtopnewsng.com, that Akinola attended Government College Ibadan, in pursuit of secondary education, while at the same time thoroughly absorbing Islamic education under the tute-lage of Alhaji Abdul-Rahman Suyuti, alias “Je Temi O dara” (let mine exceptionally good) in Agege.

Between 1959-1961 Alhaji Akinola attended the famous Morcas Arabic School.

He was a checker with Messrs. Elias Transport Services from 1961-1965, before transferring his services to Nigeria Security Printing and Mining Company (NSPMC) in May 1965.

After few months later, Federal Government parastatal sent him abroad on a managerial course. When he returned to Nigeria, he was promoted to Senior Manager (Finishing in Currency) the post he held for 32 years.

The source also revealed to worldtopnewsng.com that late Akinola will be buried tomorrow according to Islamic rites.
