How Real Madrid Replaced Cristiano Ronaldo In Every Sense

Spread the love

Real Madrid lost their star player in the summer, with  Cristiano Ronaldo having been their best performer on the pitch and their most famous representative off it.

With him gone, the club have had to replace him in multiple different ways.

Here, we take a look at who is taking over each of his roles.

Penalties: Sergio Ramos

Ronaldo was the club’s first-choice penalty taker and this duty has been taken on by Sergio Ramos, who has already scored three of them this season.

His box: Sergio Ramos

As well as taking the Portuguese’s spot-kick responsibilities, Ramos has inherited the box which Ronaldo used to have atthe Estadio Santiago Bernabeu for his family.

His vice-captaincy: Karim Benzema

Ronaldo used to be the third captain at Real Madrid, but now that role has gone to Karim Benzema, who is only behind Ramos and Marcelo in the hierarchy.

The superstition of coming out last: Karim Benzema

Benzema has also taken on Ronaldo‘s superstition of being the last player in the line as the team took to the field.

Position as highest-earner: Gareth Bale

Now that the No.7 has departed, Bale is the player at Real Madrid who earns the most and he has so far been showing on the pitch that he deserves it.

Position atop the scoring charts: Karim Benzema

There is a need to replace Ronaldo‘s goals, with the forward having been near permanently atop the Real Madridscoring charts, and Benzema is the one leading the way so far with four LaLiga strikes to his name.

His shirt: Mariano Diaz

One of the big questions centred around his No.7 shirt and this has been given to new summer signing Mariano Diaz.

His seat on the bus: Antonio Pintus

Fitness coach Antonio Pintus is the one who now sits where Ronaldo used to do on the team bus, as he had a designated seat that he didn’t like to change because of superstition.

His spot in the pre-match photo: Casemiro and Karim Benzema

The Portugal international used to stand at the right-hand side of Real Madrid‘s pre-match team photos, but now Casemiro and Benzema have been standing in that position.

His place in the BBC front three: Marco Asensio

The BBC trident has become the BBA, with Marco Asensio now linking up with Bale and Benzema in attack.

His prizes: Luka Modric

Real Madrid players will always be in line for individual awards, especially if they keep achieving so much continental success, and it seems that Luka Modric is the man who’ll be trying to bring these prizes to the Spanish capital, as he did with UEFA’s best player award.
