Vietnam Floods: 37 Killed, 40 Missing Due To Tropical Depression

At least 37 people were killed in floods and landslide caused by a tropical depression in the central and northern provinces of Vietnam Thursday, the Vietnam Disaster Management Authority said in a statement to AP.

 
The disaster left another 40 missing. More than 1,000 houses were damaged, another 16,740 homes were submerged, crops and infrastructure have been destroyed in six central and northern provinces.

 

 

The tropical depression hit central Vietnam on Tuesday and brought heavy rains.

 

 

Evacuations were ordered for 200,000 people in Ninh Binh province in the north.

 
In the northern province of Hoa Binh, 11 people died and 21 others went missing.

 

 

Houses of the families were buried in the landslide while they were asleep on early Thursday.
