Citizen’s Title Party On Hold After Second Half Collapse To Red Devil

Despite leading 2-0 at half time, Manchester City couldn’t hold on for the win over rivals United, who came storming back in the second half to claim an epic 3-2 win.

Vincent Kompany had powered the hosts ahead with an unstoppable header, and when Ilkay Gundogan doubled the lead before the break, the champagne was ready to be popped.

Two Paul Pogba goals in two minutes thrust United back into it early in the second period, and with the Red Devils then in the ascendency, Chris Smalling, who’d been at fault for Kompany’s header, volleyed United ahead.

Thereafter, the match took on a typical derby feeling with tackles flying in from both sides.

Martin Atkinson flashed yellow card after yellow card as the game threatened to boil over, and the official also missed an incident involving Sergio Aguero which should’ve seen City given a late penalty.

With time running out, David de Gea pulled off an incredible save to deny the Argentinian, and from the resulting corner, Raheem Sterling, guilty of missing two gilt-edged chances in the first half, somehow contrived to hit the inside of the post for two yards out.
