Before heading to the World Cup, Slovenian official Damir Skomina will take charge of Liverpool’s Champions League trip to Roma on Wednesday.

The 41-year-old already has appearances at the 2012 and 2016 European Championships under his belt, along with the 2012 UEFA Super Cup, 2008 Olympic Games, and 2017 Europa League final since his elevation to international level 15 years ago.

Already this season, Skomina has officiated in Roma’s 3-3 draw at Chelsea in the Champions League group stage whereas he last oversaw a Liverpool game in February 2015, when they lost 1-0 at Besiktas.

Jure Praprotnik and Robert Vukan will be his assistants in the Stadio Olimpico with Tomaz Klancnik named as fourth official.
