Trump’s No Good, Horrible, Terrible, Bad Weekend

President Trump is emerging from a bad 3 days of news and events. To summarise:

On Friday, prosecutors filed an assertion in court that Trump’s then-lawyer Michael Cohen had made personal payments to silence 2 women.

The women, Playboy Playmate Karen McDougal, and porn star Stormy Daniels, had had affairs with Trump while he was married.

The payments were made during the 2016 election campaign and should have been declared by the lawyer as campaign contributions by him. The filings also claimed that the payments were made at the direction of then candidate Trump. This is quite a pickle for the President, he has been directly implicated in a crime.

On Saturday, Trump announced that his Chief of Staff Michael Kelly was quitting. There have been many reports that Trump was unhappy with Kelly and on Saturday it was made official that Kelly was done. It has been reported for a while that Trump was wooing his VP’s Chief of Staff Nick Ayers to take Kelly’s job.

On Sunday, Nick Ayers quit the job before even accepting it, saying he was leaving Washington D.C. by the end of the year. This was seen, naturally, as a sign of rats fleeing an apparently sinking ship.

By Monday morning, Trump was lashing out at all via his preferred medium Twitter. We’ll have a story on that soon.
