New Monaco signing Cesc Fabregas had his official presentation on Wednesday and he made it clear that it was time to move on from his time in the Premier League as he embarks upon a new challenge in France.

The Spaniard completed his move last Friday and even played against Marseille on Sunday night as Thierry Henry‘s side drew 1-1 at the Stade Velodrome.

“I think that it was a good time to leave the Premier League after 501 games in England,” said Fabregas.

“It has been very difficult, after 13 years in which I won many trophies in front of many fans.

“Sometimes I feel more English than Spanish.”

As Henry looked to bring some quality and experience into his young Monacoside, Fabregas ensures that this is an exciting move for him.

“I thought about it, evaluated my options and thought it was the best decision [for me],” he added.

“[Ligue 1] is one of the best leagues in Europe.

“At the end of the day, football is similar in all places.”

Monaco are currently 19th in Ligue 1, four points from safety.
