Sergio Ramos: You’re Still Talking About Mourinho Although He Went

Despite Santiago Solari having the full backing of the Real Madrid board and players, Sergio Ramos still had to field questions about Jose Mourinho‘s possible return at a press conference for the final of the Club World Cup.

An emotive issue, the Los Blancos captain was in no mood to entertain reporters questions on the Portuguese.

“I’m nobody to decide who the Real Madrid coach is,” he said.

“We’ve been without Mourinho for five years and you’re still talking about him.

“We have the chance to win a title and we’re talking about Mourinho.

“A captain doesn’t decide the coaches.”

Cristiano Ronaldo has made recent statements about Juventus being more of a family to him than Real ever were but Ramos, again, glossed over the controversy.

“I’ve not heard him talk about Real Madrid,” he continued.

“During the time he was here, he saw the group that we have and that has been our strength and success.”

Ramos agreed with his coach that Saturday’s final won’t be an easy match.

“In football talent prevails, but physicality and intensity are also very important,” he added.

“We will play with the mentality of a very serious game, look what happened with River Plate.

Al Ain have good players, but we would’ve liked to have faced River because I have a certain empathy with teams like River and Boca.”
