Thomas Tuchel may have had one eye on next midweek’s Champions League trip to take on Liverpool, as evidenced by the fact he left Neymar out of his Friday night starting XI, but Paris Saint-Germain strolled to victory anyway.

With the suspended Kylian Mbappe out too, Saint-Etienne did start off well in the first half, but Marco Verratti then broke down the visiting defence in the 22nd minute with a lofted ball which Julian Draxler controlled with one header before scoring with a second header.

While it remained 1-0 at the break, the match got away from Saint-Etiennequickly after the restart, as Edinson Cavani was brought down in the box before converting the resulting penalty himself in the 51st minute.

Powerful finishes from the edge of the six-yard box from Angel Di Maria and Moussa Diaby in the 76th and 84th minutes then wrapped up the victory, meaning PSG have taken 15 points from their first five matches of the Ligue 1 season.
