Police Arraign Students Of UNIOSUN, OUI In Court Over Cultism

The Osun State Police Command has arraigned some students of Osun State University (UNIOSUN) and Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu (OUI) at a Magistrate court in Osogbo for being members of secret cult.

 

 

The students were arrested by Anti-cultism Squad of Osun State Police Command during a ceremony in which their outgoing leader handed over power to the new leader that emerged recently with plans to strike on a target after the ceremony.

 

 

The students were said to be members of the “Eiye confraternity and they were arrested in a forest at about 3am. They were said to have used guns and cutlasses to harass and collected mobile phones from innocent people and their and fellow students.

 

 

When the police prosecutor, Mr Olayiwola Rasaq wanted to read the offences commuted by the accused persons according to the law, the judge, Magistrate Tunde Badmus refused to hear their plea.

 

 

The magistrate said his court does not have the jurisdiction to entertainment the case. He advised the prosecutor to take the accused person to the arraignment. The accused persons were taken back to police custody.
