MSSN OAU Branch Has New Exco

Following the successful tenure of Akeem Idowu led-executive of the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Obafemi Awolowo University Branch Ile-Ife, Osun state, a new 15-member executive has been put in place for 2016/2017 session.

In a statement signed by Tajudeen Qasim, the new Public Relations Officer of the society stated that MSSN OAU branch is now under the new leadership of Abideen Okunade, (Amir) a 400 level Micro Biology student.

This was sequel to the constitution of a Shurah (Electoral) Committee chaired by Yusuf Ogundipe, a student of the Department of Education Political Science, who worked hand- in- hand with the MSSN Higher hierarchies and other stakeholders.

“Pursuant to Section 8 (1) of the MSSN Constitution 2011 as amended which says, “At every level of the Society, appointment of officers shall be by Shurah.”

“In furtherance to this, the leadership of Idowu Akeem Constituted a Shurah Committee for the appointment of the 2016/2017 academic session Executive Council.

At the end of the exercise, 15-member students emerged as the newly appointed executive for the 2016/2017 academic session.

The historic handing over ceremony took place at the Obafemi Awolowo University Central Mosque on Sunday after the secretarial and financial reports for the 2015/2016 session were read to the admiration of the students.

Following the dissolution of Akeem Idowu’s executive, the formal inauguration of the newly appointed executive council was done by the Zonal Secretary of MSSN, Mr. AbdulWasiu Akinbode who administered the oath of office for the newly appointed executive in line with the MSSN B-Zone bye-law Article Eight.

In attendance at the ceremony were the Amir, Oranmiyan Area Council, Qasim Hussein and other higher hierarchies’ of the society as well as MSSN OAU Staff Adviser, Dr. S. A. Bello.

In a congratulatory message, the National President of Obafemi Awolowo University Muslim Graduates Association (UNIFEMGA), Alhaji Abdulwaheed Odeyimka has advised the newly inaugurated executive to remain focus and abide by the constitution of the Society.

In a statement signed by the Association national Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Mohammed Buari stated that the Muslim alumni body was pleased with the smooth transition of Akeem Idowu recognized MSSN body on campus to another executive.

UNIFEMGA urged the new executive to come up with programme of activities aimed at both the spiritual and academic upliftment of the students having been distracted by some disgruntled elements on campus for some time.

Those appointed were Amir, Okunade Abideen (Micro Biology, 400L), Naibul Amir, Uthman Toyeeb (Education Biology, 400L), Amirah, Adam Maryam (Management and Accounting, 400L), Naibatul Amirah, BakareZainab (Science and Technology Education, 200L), Islamic Affairs Secretary, Hammed Jamiu (Agricultural Extension, 200L) and General Secretary, Oladeji Toyeeb (Management and Accounting, 300L).

Others were Assistant General Secretary, Sanni Nafees (Chemical Engineering, 200L), Financial Secretary, Abdur-Rafiu Murtadha (Quantity Surveying, 500L), Public Relations Officer, Tajudeen Qasim (Agricultural Economics, 200L), Assistant Public Relations Officer (Male) and Adedeji Najeemdeen (Arts and Social Education, 200L).
Other appointed officers include Assistant Public Relations Officer (Female), Adeoti Maryam (Economics, 400L), Welfare Officer (Male), Aderinto Ibraheem (Computer Science, 200L), Welfare Officer (Female), Adam  Zainab (Zoology, 300L), Secondary School Coordinator, Fatunmise Akeem (Botany, 400L) and Director of Studies, Ayankeye Ismaila (Education English, 400L).
