Despite having retired from boxing more than once, Floyd Mayweather has announced that he will fight old foe Manny Pacquiao again before the end of the year.

It means the ‘fight of the century’ rivalry will be renewed, in what is sure to be one of the most lucrative fights in history.

“I will fight Manny Pacquiao again this year, another pay day of nine figures on the way,” Mayweather announced.

Mayweather (41), insisted after fighting Conor McGregor that he would not get into a ring again.

Pacquiao (39), who is a senator in the Philippines, fought for the last time a month ago against Lucas Matthysse.

A year earlier, he had lost the WBO welterweight belt to Jeff Horn in a controversial point-determined fight.

The announcement of this fight comes on the eve of the battle between Gennady Golovkin and Saul Alvarez, one of the most important bouts of the year.

Mayweather and Pacquiao starred in Las Vegas in May 2015 in what is believed to be the most lucrative fight in the history of boxing.

Between the two they took more than 300 million dollars.

From the very moment that one ended, the talks of a rematch began.

Three years later, they will come to fruition.
