Las Palmas Left Furious With Offside Ruling As Sevilla Come Out On Top

Spread the love

Las Palmas fell to their first defeat of the month with Sevilla coming out on top 2-1 after an incorrect decision at the death by the linesman preventing them from salvaging a draw.

Central defender Alejandro Galvez had become an auxiliary centre forward and timed his run perfectly with only 20 seconds of injury time left on the clock before lobbing Sergio Rico, but the linesman raised his flag.

The referee stuck by his assistant and it meant that Javier Calleri’s late penalty was to be little more than a consolation for the Canary Islanders.

It was a relief for Vincenzo Montella’s Sevilla who had dominated the game but failed to convert it into goals.

Wissam Ben Yedder had a golden chance to give his side the lead early on but his effort was blocked on the line by David Garcia, though the centre forward made amends with a composed finish just after the half hour mark to break the deadlock.

Pablo Sarabia scored what would prove to be the winner with another cool finish at the far post early on in the second half.
