Lagos NUJ Election: MMPN Congratulates Akinreti

The Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN), Lagos Chapter has congratulated Dr. Qasim Akinreti on his victory at the just concluded Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos Council election held in Ikeja on Friday.

 

 

Dr. Akinreti, from Voice of Nigeria (VON) Chapel emerged winner in a keenly contested election with 288 votes to beat Adeleye Ajayi of News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) who got 272 votes.

 

 

MMPN, in a statement signed by its chairman, Alhaji Abdul Kabir Alabi said the victory of Dr Akinreti was an affirmation that Journalists in the state reposed confidence in him.

 
He urged him to justify the confidence reposed in him, adding that as a Muslim and number one journalist in the state, he has become the servant of the people.

 
“We pray for a successful tenure in office, we urge him to justify the confidence reposed in him and remember the saying of the Prophet that “the leader of a group is their servant.’ (Ibn Mâjah,)”.

 

 

According to Alhaji Alabi, the newly elected Lagos journalists’ head possesses all it takes to turn around the fortunes of the council and its members, he therefore, prays for continued divine guidance in the task of steering the affairs of Lagos NUJ to national and global reckoning.
