A right organization, Pan Lagos Youth Movement has thrown its weight behind Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State on the proposed law about registration of the religious houses across the state.

The Convener of the group, Adewale Oladipupo in a statement in Lagos weekend described the initiative as a welcome development towards sanitizing the environment for humanity, reminding that, havocs that religious crises have caused in several communities across the world were unimaginable.

Oladipupo, who viewed the proposed law as a right step to stem the provocations that religious houses could cause within their communities if left unchecked said the activities of some religious outfits constitute infringements on the rights of other citizens and thereby have the potentials to cause crises.

The movement Leader added that, the law should be all encompassing that all the religious houses, including the traditional ones should be captured in the law reminding that, the periodic celebration ofOro festival by the traditionalists also constitutes infringement on the right of others through restriction of movement.

In addition to that, the group’s boss wants the law to extend to other outfits like night clubs, entertainment centres, beer palours and motor parks where noise pollution is the order of the day, advising that, “it is the responsibility of the government to ensure that the sanity of individuals should be safeguarded to avoid unnecessary break down of law and order.”

While pointing out that registration of the religious houses or any other outfits is in line with the universal standard norms, Oladipupo stated that, it would regulate the standard way of behaviour expected of civilized communities of Mega Status like Lagos State.

However, the group boss is of the conviction that, such a needs courage to put it in place as well as strong will to execute it, lamenting that, “the problem with our society is lack of political will to enforce some of our laws that are very numerous to count.!”

The proposed law, according to him, is for the good of the people, sanity of humanity and guide against any behaviour that could destroy the environment through high level of noise with its inherent dangers that can set residents against one and other.

Concluding, Oladipupo, on behalf of his Movement therefore urged the good people of Lagos State to support Sanwo-Olu on the proposed law, assuring that, “the governor means well for the people and therefore would not enact any law that would not be beneficial to them.
