Edo 2020: Two PDP Aspirants Clears Way For Obaseki, Rice Man Insists On Primaries

Following the plans by Governor Godwin Obaseki to lead his deputy and other supporters to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), two out the three party’s aspirants have indicated their readiness to cleared the way for the incumbent governor from the race ahead of primaries for Edo 2020 governorship election holding on June 19 and 20.
The two PDP aspirants are serving House of Representatives member, Hon. Ogbeide Ihama and Oil & Gas Mogul, Engr. Gideon Ikhine.

Our correspondent gathered the duo agree to support Obaseki’s candidacy in PDP after series of engagement with the governor and his team.

The Governor who resigned his membership from the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday to protest unjust disqualification from Edo APC Primary election.
This medium gathered that only one of the party’s aspirants, Barr Ken Imasuagbon (Rice man) insisted on facing Obaseki in the forthcoming Edo PDP Primaries. Imasuagbon said he would resist any attempt to hand over the party’s ticket to Obaseki ahead of the state governorship elections.

Meanwhile, Edo State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Mr Tony Aziegbemi, has confirmed that Governor Godwin Obaseki and other top officials of the All Progressives Congress would join his party soon.

Aziegbemi, however, said the party would not give Obaseki an automatic ticket to fly the party’s flag as other aspirants had shown interest in the same position.

Edo PDP Chairman emphasized that they would follow the process as laid down by the constitution of the party to elect a candidate for Edo 2020 Governorship election.
