Dogged Stoke Undone By Tottenham’s Eriksen

Christian Eriksen continued his good goalscoring form with both goals against Stoke, his 63rd minute strike enough to take all three points in the Midlands, despite the hosts’ doggedness throughout.

The Potters had managed to keep Mauricio Pochettino’s side at bay throughout the first half.

With barely any chances for either side, the only excitement before the break was for Erik Pieters’ yellow card.

Dele Alli played in Eriksen for the opener within seven minutes of the start of the second half, but they were pegged back once Mame Diouf netted.

It was a reward for some good play, but it was all undone within five minutes as Eriksen registered again to silence the home support.

Xherdan Shaqiri’s shot off of the post was the closest Stoke came in the latter stages, and Crystal Palace’s point at Bournemouth leaves Paul Lambert’s side four adrift of safety.
