Delta Assembly Passes 2019 Budget Of N390 Billion

Delta State House Assembly today passed the 2019 budget with an increase of N23, 283,587,728 (Twenty-Three Billion, Two Hundred And Eight-Three Million, Five Hundred And Eight-Seven Thousand, Seven Hundred And Twenty-Eight Naira) at plenary presided over by the Speaker, Sheriff Oborevwori.

Earlier, Chairman House Committee on Finance and Appropriations, Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu presented the committee’s report with estimate of N390,378,671,178 (Three Hundred and Ninety Billion, Three Hundred and Seventy-Eight Million, Six Hundred and Seventy-One Thousand, One Hundred and Seventy-Nine Naira against the earlier budget estimate of N367,095,083,451 (Three Hundred and Sixty Seven Billion, Ninety-Five Million, Eighty-Three Thousand, Four Hundred and Fifty-One Naira presented by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to the house on 17th of October, 2018.

Obori said recurrent estimates is N157,096,029,253 (One Hundred and Fifty-Seven Billion, Ninety-Six Million, Twenty-Nine Thousand, Two Hundred and Fifty-Three Naira) while the capital estimates stands at N233,282,641,926 (Two Hundred and Thirty-Three Billion, Two Hundred and Eighty-Two Million, Six Hundred and Forty-One Thousand, Nine Hundred and Twenty-Six Naira.

The Majority Leader, Tim Owhofere however moved a motion of acceptance, adoption and suspension of the house rules to enable the speedy passage of the bill and was seconded by Peter the Deputy Speaker, Friday Osanebi.

After a voice votes put forward by the Speaker, Sheriff Oborevwori, he commended members for the passages explaining that Delta State House of Assembly is among the first House of Assemblies in Nigeria to passed the 2019 Appropriation Bill.

The house thereafter adjourned plenary till tomorrow.
