Carvajal Won’t Play PSG First Leg After UEFA Confirm Ban

Zinedine Zidane won’t have Dani Carvajal available to him for the first leg of Real Madrid’s Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain, with UEFA confirming the right-back’s two-match ban.

In the penultimate game of the group stages, Carvajal deliberately sought a yellow card so that he would be suspended for the meaningless final group game, rather than later in the tournament.

Unhappy with this, UEFA imposed a two-game ban, the first part of which the Spaniard served in the final group game against Borussia Dortmund and the second part of which he will serve on February 14 when PSG come to town.

Real Madrid had tried to have the sanction reduced, but there is no pardon from European football’s governing body.
