Carabao Cup: The Gunners Pulled Off A Comeback Against Chelsea

Spread the love

Eden Hazard may have put Chelsea 1-0 up on the night and in the tie after just seven minutes of play at Emirates on Wednesday night, but Arsenal pulled off a comeback and earned the right to take on Manchester City in the League Cup final.

A calamitous own goal in the 12th minute allowed the Alexis Sanchez-less Gunners a route back into the match, with Antonio Rudiger the last player to touch the ball on its way past Willy Caballero.

It was another Rudiger deflection that led to the winner, when a ricochet sent the ball across the six-yard box and towards Granit Xhaka, who was able to react quickly and stab the ball home.

As much as the Blues sought a way back into the match, it was Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi who had the best chance of the final half hour, but he couldn’t finish.

Despite that miss, the home side were able to hold on and will be going to Wembley.
