Boxing: Joshua To Defend IBF Belt Against Klitschko April 29

Nigeria born Anthony Joshua will fight Wladimir Klitschko in a world heavyweight championship unifier on April 29 at Wembley Stadium.

Joshua will defend his IBF belt, which previously belonged to Klitschko, while the vacant WBA ‘super’ title will also be up for grabs.

Moments after Joshua (18-0) brutally dispatched Eric Molina within three rounds, legendary former unified champion Klitschko (64-4) climbed into the ring to confirm the announcement.

The 19th fight of Joshua’s pro career now promises to a stunning occasion, as the former IBF, WBA and WBO title-holder Klitschko visits the national stadium.

Sky Sports Head of Boxing Adam Smith said: “This is the fight the boxing world has been waiting for. Can the young lion, Anthony Joshua, rise to the challenge and conquer the former and long reigning king of the heavyweights Wladimir Klitschko?

“It is one of the biggest fights in the most glamorous division and it is on. At Wembley Stadium! What a stage for our sport, what a build-up in store and what a night it’s going to be on April 29th.”

The fight is part of an already great 2017 of boxing on Sky Sports Box Office, with David Haye taking on arch rival Tony Bellew on 4 March at London’s O2 Arena.
