Aston Villa have announced the signing of Emiliano Martinez from Arsenal.
The goalkeeper moves to Villa Park for a fee of 21.5 million euros and has signed a four-year deal at his new club.
The Argentine arrived at Arsenal in 2010, making just 39 appearances for the Gunners in total, with 28 of them coming last season.
In the absence of the injured Bernd Leno, Martinez received praise for his form for Mikel Arteta’s side as they went on to lift the FA Cup.
“For me, I could not be happier to leave through the front door with the Arsenal fanbase supporting me and the club supporting me,” Martinez said in a farewell interview with Arsenal.
“I had 11 years at the club, and even if it was a hard road for me, and I suffered through my time at Arsenal, today I am happy and I tried to show young goalies how work pays off.”
