History has revealed to us in no small measure the herculean task of reforming a morally derelict society. Over time, those who seek to alter the repellant order has met stiff resistance both from the oppressors and the oppressed. This has made the task of restoring our world to the path of social justice, fairness and equity an almost impossible undertaking. However, in the wake of these malady, good men must never give up on our collective freedom.

This is why Comrade Ameh Ogedegbe, a foremost private sector player and a core humanist has thrown his hat in the ring in the contest to unseat the current occupant of the Isoko North Constituency Seat in the State House of assembly.

Born on the 27th day of June, 1983, to Chief Joseph Arikomere Ogedegbe, a former Director in the board of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), a 3rd Republic politician and a renowned farmer, Ameh grew up to understand the true meaning of the dignity of labour. At a tender age, he cut his teeth in business having been placed in charge of his dad’s humongous investment in agriculture which served as his retirement. He had his elementary education in Emewha Primary School, Emevor and his secondary education at the prestigious James Welch Grammar School. Despite his elitist background, Ameh can be said to be a true homeboy having lived the first decade of his life with his people in the agrarian community of Emevor.

In preparation for the daunting task ahead, he proceeded to the Delta State University, Abraka where he studied Political Science Education. He graduated with flying colours in 2007.

Between 2007 and 2008, Ameh had his mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme in the National Assembly where he served in the office of the Chairman House of Representative Committee on Land Transportation. While at the National Assembly, Ameh learned the rudiment of the business of lawmaking and how legislators can impact on the lives of their constituents.

This is one of the reason he is today aspiring to represent his people in the State House of Assembly, to reshape the face of legislative governance in his constituency.

Upon completion of his NYSC programme, Ameh proceeded to the Regional Maritime University, Accra, Ghana, from 2011 to 2013 where he studied several Maritime-related courses ranging from Drill Ship Security Access, Maritime Financing, Offshore Oil Exporation, Shipping Risk Management, Tropical Basic offshore Safety, etc.

Today, Ameh Ogedegbe is a big player in the Maritime sector. He was first employed by underwater giants Omak Maritime limited, Port Harcourt in 2011 and later Northern Offshore LTD, an international Maritime firm headquartered in the UK with branches and subsidiaries all over the world. There, he amassed lots of experiences over the years and he is today an employer of labour and a key player in the industry.

In answering the call of his people to serve, Ogedegbe has clinched the ticket of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) and will be contesting for Isoko North Constituency seat in the state House of Assembly in the 2019 general elections. He has based his hope in God almighty and the strength of the people who yearns for a breath of fresh air. With Ameh Ogedegbe, Isoko North is expected to occupy its rightful place where all that is due her would be acquired without hesitation.
